Microwaves at Gilfillan division, ITT industries: past, present, and future

For Gilfillan, a landmark Los Angeles company, microwave engineering is a key enabler for technological and commercial success. Major Gilfillan products today include a wide variety of air traffic control (ATC) and air defense systems. This paper highlights Gilfillan contributions to the microwave state-of-the-art and radar leadership. Gilfillan's microwave-based products began in ATC with the world's first Ground Controlled Approach (GCA) Radar and branched into air defense and battlefield surveillance with innovative planar array antennas. Today, Gilfillan's focus is on active array technology and systems. The GCA-2000 is the world's first active array ATC radar. The Gilfillan tradition exemplifies excellence. This trend continues by using microwave engineering to develop innovative and profitable products solving domestic and international customer needs.
