A miniaturized tapered slot antenna with ultra-wide bandwidth

A miniaturized tapered slot antenna is proposed in this paper. The antipodal Vivaldi antenna is fed by the designed microstrip line and resistive loading is used to greatly reduce dimension of the antenna. In addition, a parasitic patch is stuck on the antenna to the increase the antenna's gain. The grid etched on the edge of the antenna is used to reduce the reflection and improve radiation performance. The dimension of the proposed antenna is 75mm × 74mm × 2mm. The measured results show that the bandwidth extends from 0.7 GHz to 6.2 GHz (S

<; -10dB), while the gain varies from -2dB to 9.4dB, which are in agreement with simulated results by HFSS. Due to the good radiation performance of the antenna, it can be used for ultra-wideband systems which have strict demand for dimension.
