RF Photonic Link With an MQW Phase Modulator Transmitter and an ACP-OPLL Receiver

A phase modulated (PM) RF photonic link with a multiple quantum well (MQW) phase modulator transmitter and an attenuating-counter-propagating optical phase lock loop (ACP-OPLL) receiver photonic IC is presented. The nonlinearity of the MQW phase modulator was used to cancel the residual nonlinear distortions of the ACP-OPLL receiver. This enables the demonstration of the highest dynamic range performance among the PM RF photonic links.
