Comparison of Speech Signal Features between Chinese and English

This paper mainly takes the difference between Chinese and English speech signals in linguistics as a guide. Then, it processes and analyzes these speech signals. Finally, it compares the characteristics of these two kinds of speech signals. This thesis adopts short-time energy based scheme to detect voice activity adaptively and then calculate the short-time zero crossing rate, along with using the method of average magnitude difference function of nonlinear center clipping to estimate speech pitch. This paper carries out experiments on voice data from a large number of broadcast programs. Moreover, it uses statistical analysis to verify the difference between the characteristics of the two types of speech signals.
