Investigation of stress-strain state of Ti-W-B system coatings

The article analyzes stress-strain state of nanocrystalline coatings (Ti, W)B
₂
with a hexagonal crystalline lattice on the system “coating/substrate” deflection using Stoney's relation and two complementary X-ray diffraction schemes with orthogonal diffraction vectors with the determination of the interplane distance in the coating plane and along the normal to it. The results of the complex researches helped to prove the possibility to achieve higher level of residual compression strain, retained by the coating while increasing the relative content of titanium atoms in the coatings. ≈ 1 the big compression deformation is observed that achieves the value ε ≈ -2.8 % which corresponds to the effect of stress strains in the coatings σ
