A Study on the Different Neural Mechanisms of Stereopsis between Fine Crossed and Uncrossed Disparity

To study the neural mechanisms of fine crossed and fine uncrossed disparity in global stereopsis, event-related brain potentials(ERPs) were investigated by distinguishing depth. The crossed disparity of 6.54' and uncrossed disparity of 8.18' were selected. Results showed that there were no significant differences between ERPs to the stimuli with disparity of -8.18' and ERPs to the stimuli with disparity of 6.54' in the time windows 0 - 100 ms. But the differences were significant in time windows 100 - 200 ms at the parietal-temporal regions, in time windows 200 - 350ms at parietal-occipital regions, in time windows 300 - 450ms at frontal regions and in time windows 750-1000ms at center regions. The results suggested the processing mechanism of fine disparity was divided into two independent mechanism -- fine crossed disparity mechanism and fine uncrossed disparity mechanism was reasonable.
