Impact of UPQC on Protection of Distributed Generation integrated distribution system

Protection of Distributed Generation (DG) injected Distribution network (DN) is a challenging task in entire electrical ancestors. The connection of DG to the distribution network alters the nature of the network. Expose of DG can alter the fault current during the grid disturbance or external fault and perturb the existing distribution protection system, one of them in the event of a fault where DG could contribute to the fault current in addition to the contribution from the existing power grid. It leads voltage fluctuations and bidirectional power flow which intern's results miss-coordination of protective devices this paper will give an overview of the distributed generators behavior and their contemporary contribution during the fault. This paper proposes a Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) for protecting the Distribution network (DN) during the fault. It has a DC/DC converter with super-capacitors for energy storage. The proposed UPQC can recompense the reactive power, fault current, and deviated voltage profile under faulted condition. Simulation is accomplished in MATLAB/Simulink.
