IP for solar MPPT charger

Paper proposes a digital design for the maximum power point tracker (MPPT) controller which is used for extracting maximum power from the photovoltaic (PV) system and supplying it to the batteries or grid under changing illumination and loads. The proposed digital controller circuit is very much distinguishing from the previous MPPT circuit. This circuit uses minimum power, processing time, and area. The proposed circuit does not have any analog component in it as well. There are number of MPPT algorithms available, but we are using that algorithm which is simple and efficient. Changes such as replacing analog processing to digital are suggested into the selected algorithm; in order the produce good results under changing weather condition. The system is made up of high efficiency DC-DC Boost Converter and Perturbation & Observation (P&O) algorithm circuit. The inputs of controller circuit are output voltage and current of PV panel. The main aim of controller circuit is to generate a pulse width modulated signal whose duty cycle is used to maintain the input impedance of DC-DC converter at the favorable value so that PV panel gives maximum power to the load.
