Enhancing the data transfer rate by creating alternative path for AODV routing protocol in VANET

Vehicular Network which is popularly known as VANET is a type of Mobile Ad-hoc Network or MANET. In today's time, VANET is becoming a hot topic for research and development area. VANET make us available with an infrastructure for creating and enhancing new systems for safety measures of the drivers and passengers [3]. In VANET, various routing techniques are proposed which are adaptable to various vehicular-specific requirements. In this paper, we proposed a technique to increase the adaptability of the protocol with the changing topology [10]. Since vehicle/node in VANET is fast moving entity, so the route amongst the nodes breaks frequently. The algorithm establishes an alternate route for the data packet transmission when link break occurs. This technique increases the flow rate of data packets in the network and decreases the end-to-end delay. The simulation is carried out to evaluate the network performance, and the result of AODV-AP shows the higher packet delivery ratio and lower network overhead as compare to AODV and OLSR.
