Research on characteristics of pressure-resistant torque motor for 2D valve

Since conventional electro-mechanical converter of 2D valve had deficiency of lacking high pressure resistance, a novel pressure-resistant torque motor with simple structure and limited working stroke was developed based on axial magnetic circuit with single-phase excitation. Prototype motor was fabricated and experimental rig was built. Torque-angle characteristics and frequency response were studied using approaches of FEM simulation and experiments. The experimental results were in a close agreement with the simulated results, which indicate the torque-angle characteristic is close to linear relationship and its amplitude increases with winding current. The maximum static torque reaches about 0.33 N·m. The dynamic response can meet engineering requirement for 2D proportional and directional valves.
