Surface arcover in DC capacitors

Arcover across the surface of a solid dielectric in a gaseous ambient is probably one of the oldest problems in the use of electrical insulation. Much work has been done and is being done on arcover in gases

. However most of this work is concerned with power generation equipment rather than with electronic devices.
