Control radiation with epsilon-near-zero metamaterials

This paper presents a way to control the radiation of a line current with epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) metamaterials (MMs). By choosing appropriately the inner diameter of the ENZ shell surrounding the current, the radiation can be enhanced or suppressed dramatically. The ENZ shell is composed of metallic thin-wire periodic structures in the simulations. The simulation results show the radiation of the line current is enhanced 7 times or suppressed to 3% of the line current in free space.
