Compact dual-band MIMO antenna with high isolation for 3/4G, Wi-Fi, bluetooth, Wi-MAX and WLAN applications

A compact dual-band MIMO antenna with high isolation for 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G, Wi-MAX and WLAN applications is proposed. The proposed MIMO antenna system consists of two monopole radiating elements designed to operate over 2.4 and 5.2 GHz bands. <; -9.5 dB is obtained over 2.10-2.85 GHz and 4.8-6 GHz which are suitable for 3G (2.11-2.185 GHz), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (2.4-2.5 GHz), 4G Wi-MAX (2.3-2.41 and 2.6-2.69 GHz), WLAN (5.15-5.35 and 5.725-5.875 GHz) frequency bands. The measured isolation values are S

<; -24 dB over the lower band and S12 <; -27 dB over the higher band. Envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and diversity gain are also investigated. The ECC of the antenna is less than 0.002 and 0.02 over the lower and higher operating band respectively. The antenna has stable radiation patterns. Thus the proposed antenna is a good candidate for portable wireless devices.
