Numerical calculation of specific absorption rate for smart-watch with planar inverted F antenna

Currently, the standard and the regulation for compliance the specific absorption rate (SAR) evaluation specifies the use of the flat phantom. This means the evaluated SAR in flat phantom is intended to represent higher than the SAR in real exposure condition. In this paper, the conservative exposure estimate of the flat phantom is investigated by numerically comparing the SAR in the flat phantom and anatomical human body model from a smart-watch model with a planar inverted F antenna (PIFA). The results show that the flat phantom does not yield a conservative exposure estimate for smart-watch model.
