Temperature influence on high frequency copolymer transducers

High frequency ultrasonic transducers have been produced using a simple layer-by-layer deposition method. A number of transducer prototypes were made using this adhesive-free method by depositing P(VDF-TrFE) copolymer in the fluid phase on top of a PEI (Ultem 1000) substrate. These prototypes were then explored as a system for temperature monitoring by measuring the reflected pulse from the backside of the PEI substrate. The temperature was changes in a step-wise cycle, and pulse parameters like amplitude, center frequency, and bandwidth were estimated for each temperature. This temperature cycle was repeated a number of times for several transducer elements, in order to investigate the reparability of the proposed temperature monitoring system.
