An Intelligent Web-Based Workstation for Operation Analysis in Smart Power Plants

Operation analysis is a fundamental means to detect abnormal behavior of equipment and to prevent the hydro power plant from accidents. It is usually carried out by human operators once or twice per day. Not only many manpower have to be involved in the hard data gathering and calculation work, but also the analysis results can't reflect condition of the equipment in time. In order to meet the requirements of smart power plants, an intelligent web-based workstation (IWWS) for operation analysis is proposed. The data from various systems (such as SCADA system, speed governor, voltage regulator, condition monitoring systems) are integrated in real time via the synchronization with operating conditions and abnormal or unknown events as well as clock. The operation analysis based on operators' expertise is automatically proceeded periodically (such as every 15 minutes). A web-based human machine interface is also provided to operators for the query and interference on analysis. The structure of IWWS is briefly introduced and the databases are presented. The main functions and implementation methods are described. IWWS has been successfully put into service in Gezhouba Hydro Power Plant.
