Performance of hybrid medium access control scheme for large machine to machine networks: A review

Machine to machine (M2M) is a technology used for both the communication systems (wired and wireless) to communicate with other devices of same type. This can be considered as part of Internet of Things (IOT). Because of this it is highly beneficial to industry and businesses. Originally M2M was used for automation and instrumentation but now it covers the areas of computer science, electrical engineering, vehicular systems, logistics which are coined under the term telematics. This paper then uses M2M domain architecture to form the basic model for M2M networks. We review the basic hybrid medium access control (MAC) scheme along with contention based and reservation based schemes.
