FDTD modeling challenges of cylindrical structures

Cylindrically radial wave functions are used to derive the numerical dispersion for the Body-of-Revolution FDTD method. It is observed that dispersion errors increase substantially in the near vicinity of the axis of rotation. The required high grid densities for such cases are predetermined by the derived dispersion relation and confirmed with a simulation experiment.
