High gain off-body antenna based on combination AMC-FSS structure for underground mining communications

This paper presents a High Gain wearable Off-body Antenna with AMC-FSS technology for underground applications. At 5.8 GHz, the design achieves a bandwidth of 1 GHz, a directivity of 54.9° and a gain of 9.60 dB over the entire ISM band. The results suggest that the proposed antenna is a good candidate for off-body underground communication.
