Functional mapping in the evaluation of renal scintigraphic studies

Renal scintigraphy yields both anatomic and physiologic information about the kidneys. Several techniques have been proposed to improve display of the physiologic information. One of these is functional mapping where time dependant data is displayed in a single image to allow visual correlation with the anatomic data. This paper reviews the technique and presents examples of its utility along with recommendations for improvement.
