Modeling, control and implementation of high step-up ratio IDDB converters for fuel cell applications

Interleaved double dual boost (IDDB) DC-DC converters are widely used in high-power renewable energy conversion applications, which can provide both high step-up ratio and low current ripple. This paper is focused on the nonlinear modeling and control of non-ideal IDDB converter. A sliding mode controller is design based on the model with parasitics considered. Some key issues on the control design are discussed and then validated by experiments on a 50-kW prototype. Results show that the converter and its control algorithm can meet the demand of fuel cell applications.
