Design considerations for bluetooth low energy CMOS RF transceivers for IoT

Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is one of the key wireless connectivity standards for future IoT era. In this work, the BLE standard specifications are investigated to derive the required RF transceiver specifications. Also, architectures and design trends of BLE RF transceivers are examined. With those design considerations taken into account, an optimum transceiver architecture is introduced with key target performance parameters.
