The research on improvement of narrowband radio channel communication protocol based on fountain codes

The narrowband radio channel has narrow bandwidth, high error bit rate, and long transmission delay so that traditional TCP protocol can not transmit data effectively. To solve this problem, an improved communication protocol based on fountain codes was put forward. Utilizing the principle of fountain codes, data was split into some small data before they were transmitted, and small data were transmitted continuously until the receiver replied to the acknowledgement message. The simulation result shows that under the same transmission environment, the improved protocol can enhance the efficiency of data transmission compared to the traditional TCP protocol.
