Multiple controllable band notch antenna for UWB cognitive radio application

In this paper, reconfigurable band notch antenna for cognitive radio application is proposed. An Ultra-wideband (UWB) cognitive radio antenna of size 28 mm × 32 mm × 1.6mm with multiple controllable split rings are presented. Two identical split rings are used to band notch WLAN band to prevent interference. Electronic switches mounted along these resonators serve to activate or deactivate the bands. The proposed antenna design is simulated using CST. The reconfigurable band notches are actuated using a band-stop filter based on split-ring resonators (SRRs), and are controlled using electronic switches mounted over the SRRs. FR4 substrate is used for the proposed antenna design.
