Post disaster damage estimation using integrated GPS sensor network & GIS

This paper presents a technology for three real time applications of prime importance such as post disaster infrastructure-damage assessment using GPS, estimation of building strength and building movement. GPS sensor nodes installed on building roof-top, provides with relative position information from both pre- and post-earthquake periods & are superimposed on GIS. The changes are used for damage estimation, building movement scale, and parameters such as stress, strain when applied to ARX and RARX help to calculate damage precisely. The paper explores the building movement sketches in the earthquake hit domain by applying ARX & RARX systems. The motive behind this paper is to keep track of the structural parameters & to apply them in disaster management and use them for rescue operations as soon as possible. Parameters are measured prior to natural disaster and when it occurs we make intelligent decisions for faster recovery and to initiate remodeling or reconstruction. The prime modules are implemented & tested in MATLAB with graphical analysis is shown.
