CC3200 based real-time remote monitoring and control of an industrial process

The development of remote automation of a cascade control system by using CC3200 microcontroller is presented here. The cascade control system has two variables , namely level and flow. The liquid level which is referred as primary variable and it is used to control the flow (secondary variable). The cascade process, i.e., level and flow is monitored and controlled by using CC3200, a System on Chip (SoC) microcontroller which has built-in Wi-Fi. The desired level is given as input in terms of corresponding ASCII commands wirelessly from remote locations. The control action is done through PID controller. The peformance of the ssytem is analyzed by considering various metrics, such as rise time, settling time, Integral Square Error (ISE) and Integral Absolute Error (IAE).
