Wide band U shaped patch antenna for wireless applications

In this paper, we describe a slotted microstrip antenna that achieves multi resonant frequency with compact size. The proposed antenna consists of a U-shaped patch with small volume. U-slot have been cut on the ground plane, just below U-shaped radiating patch. The antenna shows multi frequency behavior and achieves higher bandwidth i.e., 4.51GHz (3.77 - 8.28 GHz) when compared to conventional antenna. It is highly suitable for wireless communications. Dimensions of the antenna are changed and various bandwidths are obtained. The antenna is simulated using the software HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator).
