Multimode steady-state analysis for Gyro-TWT based on lossy dielectric-coated metal cylindrical waveguide

Gyrotron-traveling-wave tube (Gyro-TWT) is based on the convective instability of the relativistic ECM mechanism. However, parasitic oscillations are always important factors for its operating stability. Until now, the waveguide wall loss is one of the most successful solutions to suppress the mode competition problem in gyro-TWTs. The disturbance from the loss is negligible for the operating mode, while the disturbance and attenuation for the competing mode is relatively stronger. The multimode steady-state method is used to discuss the suppression of the competing mode and the stabilization of the operating mode for the Gyro-TWT with lossy dielectric-coated metal cylindrical waveguide in this abstract.
