Pre-regulated current fed push pull converter for hybrid energy systems

In this project work, two stage buck converters and one Current fed push pull converters are used. Here the stage two converters is used as a pre regulator to reduces the voltage stress of push pull switches. In addition, it is sufficient to modulate the width of the pulse fed to buck stage while maintaining the pulse width of the switches of push pull stage constant. In this work, a current fed push pull converter which can be powered by solar PV and conventional single phase ac supply is proposed. The stage one converter is used to step down the voltage from input ac supply and this voltage is given to cascaded push full converter. Cascaded buck push pull converters are used in many applications such as high level DC voltage equipment's like carbon dioxide laser-based systems, medical and industrial X-Rays and travelling wave tube (TWT) in satellites. Electronic ballast used in compact fluorescent lamps and light emitting diodes use current fed push pull topology. Based on the input ac supply and readings from a 20W solar panel, a 20W, 100V, 0.2A cascaded buck push pull converter is designed and simulated using PSIM.
