Design and implementation of a lowcost Integrated Insulin Infusion system

Diabetes is caused by high blood sugar concentration in the body. It causes damage to the internal organs of the diabetic patients which can be controlled through insulin injection. Various infusion systems like insulin pen and insulin pump have been proposed to inject the insulin by continuous monitoring of blood glucose level. But the size of those systems is too large and cost is also high. A low cost integrated insulin infusion system is not yet available in Indian market. The proposed system is an Integrated Insulin Infusion system which is used to keep the blood glucose level within the predefined range and also reduce size and cost. It will provide the accurate dosage of the insulin and also achieve controlled blood sugar level by periodic inspection. We present an analytical model of the system and determine the insulin injection rate for different glucose levels in the body. The analytical model in validated using experimental ults obtained from the prototype designed.
