A new switched boost inverter using transformer suitable for the microgrid-connected PV with high boost ability

Switched boost inverter (SBI) topology exhibits advantage similar to Z-source inverter (ZSI) with fewer passive components; however it requires more active component. In this study a new class of single-stage high inversion gain inverters based on transformers is proposed. Switched trans boost inverter (STBI) is built by replacing inductor in switched boost inverter (SBI) with a transformer and two diodes. Three topologies are presented for STBIs namely ripple input current STBI (rSTBI), discontinuous input current STBI (dSTBI) and DC-linked type STBI. The proposed inverters produce high voltage gain when the turn ratio is larger than 1. Thus, the size, weight can reduce. These kind of inverters could use in applications photovoltaic and other renewable systems, where a high voltage gain is usually requested and weight and size important. In this paper presents the operating principle and compare them with SBI, ZSI, SL-ZSI, Trans quasi and TZ source inverter. The simulation verified that the proposed inverters have high voltage gain.
