Improvements in the CO2 capture process by optimizing the solvent regeneration temperature

The objective of this paper is to reduce the energy consumption required for the CO
₂
capture process, by optimizing the temperature at the inlet of the solvent desorption unit. This paper presents a numerical simulation on the CO
₂
capture installation in our university. The simulation of the CO
₂
post-combustion capture process is made by using the HYSYS 3.2 software. This topic is adequate in what concerns reducing the environmental impact of the coal fueled steam power plants. In this case we used a solution based on MEA (monoethanolamine). Following the simulation processes, we have concluded that the rise of temperature for the amine solution before entering the desorption process leads to a reduction in energy required for the solution regeneration (for the same value of the capture efficiency).
