Slotted silicon photonic structures for hybrid on-chip integration

In this paper, we report our recent results about slotted photonic structures for hybrid on-chip integration in silicon photonics. Explored schemes cover hollow core waveguide optimized micro-ring resonators, slot photonic crystal cavities, and slow light slotted waveguides, all aiming at the enhancement of light-matter interactions. A comparison between several of these approaches is drawn regarding their respective advantages and drawbacks with respect to third order nonlinear optics and sensing in the near infrared wavelength range.
