An efficient approach for robust SCOPF considering load and renewable power uncertainties

With the increasing penetration level of renewables in the electricity network, requirements such as making the control strategies robust to the uncertainties that caused by the intermittency of renewables, have been considered to be of great significance to the electricity network reliability. Optimal power flow (OPF) is a powerful tool for determining the optimal control variables of a power system, where considering the uncertainties is increasingly important. This paper presents an efficient approach to address the uncertain factors arisen by load demand and renewable generation in power system, via a robust security constrained-optimal power flow (SCOPF) model. The proposed approach consists of two steps. First, a robust OPF is realized through a minimum number of uncertainty scenarios selected from TOAT method. Then, the security constraints are incorporated into the robust OPF through Benders decomposition. The obtained solution is robust against uncertain variables and secure against contingencies, meanwhile with high degree of scalability.
