High speed imaging of propagating brush discharges

Summary form only given. Propagating brush discharge (PBD) events occur on dielectric surfaces in the presence of high static charge buildup. Typical discharges are sub microsecond events and are most regularly imaged using long exposure techniques. To study the propagation of PBDs a high-speed camera capable of 200 million frames per second was used. Synchronization between the camera and PBD was enhanced using a picosecond laser pulse to trigger the discharge.
