Implementation of direct torque control for a PM synchronous machine based on FPGA

This paper presents the implementation of the Direct Torque Control (DTC) for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) based on the technology of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The DTC algorithm and the methodology for hardware description language in VHDL are presented. In order to verify the proposed design methodology, hardware in the loop simulation is performed on Matlab/Simulink and Quartus II, on an Altera DE2-115 board. Finally, simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the presented design methodology.
