Evaluation method of lightning performance on low voltage system in smart substation

This paper presents an evaluation method for the low voltage system in the smart substation while lightning striking. This method has three steps. First, calculate the maximum value of lightning current that can be tolerate by the low voltage system in the smart substation; second, according to the geographic information of the smart substation, t the current value and the probability distribution of lightning current amplitude can be obtained in the database of the lightning location system; third, according to the maximum allowable lightning current value, the value of current and the change index, the lightning current amplitude is not less than the maximum allowable lightning current value.
