Velocity control of DC machine using multicellular power converter

This paper focuses on the problem of controlling multicellular converter (three cells), in order to drive a DC machine, the control objectives is twofold, the first one is to regulate the voltage of the flying capacitor, the second is to regulate the speed of DC motor to a desired value. The whole system is described by 4th order nonlinear mathematical model and controlled by using the backstepping approach and tools from Lyapunov stability. The simulation results have been performed through Matlab/SimPowerSystems environment and show that the designed controller meets its objective.
