Novel ultra-wideband antenna with dual-band rejection characteristic for wearable applications

In this letter, a novel Ultra-Wideband wearable antenna with dual-notched-band is proposed. Firstly, an original UWB characteristic is achieved by using a modified microstrip-fed monopole hexagonal antenna. Secondly, a defected microstrip (DMS) slot is etched on the microstrip feed line to produce a notch band for WiMAX system. Thirdly, a defected ground structure (DGS) is etched upright down of the feed line on the ground plane, and a notched band for WLAN system is achieved. The proposed antenna is fabricated on a flexibility material and its performance is tested and verified by simulation and measurement. Effects of different bending condition on the antenna have been investigated.
