Light absorption of nanocomposite thin films

Absorption profiles of thin films with gold spheroidal nanoinclusions are calculated in the framework of a local-field approach. The dependence of the absorption spectra is obtained on the volume fraction, the shape of inclusions and their orientation relative to the normal to the film surface for probing monochromatic beams of s and p-polarizations under irradiating the film at different angles. The possibility of a controlled impact on the optical properties of nanocomposite films and using the special thin nanocomposite films as an anti-reflective coating in solar cells are discussed.
