Modeling of ray refraction of WLAN signals on the structural elements of the building

Refraction of electromagnetic waves plays a significant role in providing radio communications inside the building in the absence of direct visibility. For the purpose of analysis of the composition of the rays of WLAN signals inside buildings in rooms adjacent to the location of the access point the simulation of the passage of rays through the wall of the building based on their refraction and reflection at each of the structural surfaces is used. The main distinguishing feature of the proposed model is a predefined position of the access point and the client location of the communication network. The refraction of rays is considered in the approximation of geometrical optics. The procedure for constructing three-dimensional routes is based on the calculation of coordinates of points of refraction of the ray on each of the surfaces, which solves the system of nonlinear algebraic equations. The result of synthesis of the radial trajectory of a repeatedly refracted electromagnetic wave inside the building in the form of a set of radius vectors of the points of refraction and reflection is the basis for energy calculation of the coverage area of WLAN.
