Impact of interleaving length on satellite communication performance in helicopter environment

This paper analyses the use of satellite communications in services for mobile terminals which experience periodic blockages of the signal. This paper describes a channel model for the helicopter environment and then analyses the impact of different interleaver lengths on physical layer performance. The paper then explores designs wherein the effect of blockage due to the rotor blades can be mitigated. This paper presents performance results in simulation and experimental setup.
