A tunable miniaturized notch antenna for low-band LTE applications

This paper deals with the design and performance study of a frequency-agile notch antenna that covers low E-UTRA frequency bands ranging from 600 MHz to 900 MHz. A miniature notch antenna with a length of λ/18 at 900 MHz is proposed and antenna tuning is provided by a SOI CMOS tunable capacitor. To predict the resonance frequency of the proposed antenna, a Transmission Line Model of the antenna is proposed. The simulated and experimental performances are presented and demonstrate antenna tuning operation from 900 MHz down to 600 MHz.
