Numerical and Experimental Analysis of CSR of Transformer Type for Bidirectional Reactive Power Compensation

To study the electromagnetic characteristics of the controlled shunt reactor (CSR) of transformer type for bidirectional reactive power compensation, an improved coupled magnetic circuit and electric circuit method is proposed. A 220-V single-phase CSR of transformer type is developed for experimental analysis. Instantaneous currents of windings, magnetic flux of the iron core, and inner leakage fluxes of windings are calculated at the capacitive and inductive reactive power modes of the CSR by the proposed method. Calculated results are consistent with experimental results. Instantaneous electromagnetic characteristics of the CSR are analyzed.
