A comparative study on three Electronics Toll Collection systems in Surabaya

This paper studies three kinds of Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) systems which are implemented in the different toll roads of Surabaya. Although, the systems were principally based on RFID, each applied system has different work mechanism as well as equipment specification, and consequently brings the varied service performances. Nevertheless, the use of ETC is more economical compared to conventional system. The toll road user interview is conducted in this study in which the results show that the majority of user seems to satisfy with the ETC. In addition, the user expects to acquire further development which includes the use multi bank, or interoperability card, and the availability of card for multi merchant or multipurpose usages.
