A FPGA based system for measuring Vector Cosine Angle Distance between three color channels of RGB image

This paper proposes a novel FPGA based architecture to find the Vector Cosine Angle Distance between pair-wise color channels of RGB face image. The proposed work has an application in the field of skin color based searching in a real time system. The present system has been tested on 75 male and 25 female color facial images collected from standard FRAV2D database. The proposed architecture has been implemented using VHDL, synthesized for a Xilinx Spartan 3 XC3S50-5PQ208 FPGA with simulation on the Modelsim 6.2c.
