Time constrained optimal power flow calculations on the German power grid

In this paper, the methodology of time constrained optimal power flow (TCOPF) is presented and applied on a model of the German transmission grid. The presented TCOPF includes an entire AC power flow. Limits on line flow, voltages and generated power are respected at each time step. Additionally, inter-temporal problems such as optimal storage operation, energy contracts or generator ramping limits are considered. The model of the German transmission grid is based on data from the German Network Regulatory Body. Load and RES profiles as well as generation costs are nevertheless synthetic and part of present work to improve the model. An optimization over 24h has been achieved to prove the functionality of the presented methodology.
