Curriculum standards: rationalizing instructional computing?

Standards based approaches to traditional K-12 curricula are finding increasingly widespread acceptance among parents, teachers, school administrators, and policy makers. They might also be helpful in guiding the integration of instructional computing technologies-including Internet based technologies such as the World Wide Web into K-12 schools. But instructional computing poses special challenges for curriculum standards. The author explores some of those challenges and suggests how they might be met, especially by computer technology professionals.
