Angularly-independent Huygens' metasurfaces

In this presentation we introduce a new concept of all-angle Huygens' metasurfaces. Angularly-independent Huygens' metasurfaces do not produce any reflections for arbitrary illuminations, while they are fully able to tailor transmitted waves. In contrast to the known Huygens' metasurfaces which need to be tuned for a particular plane-wave incidence, using the proposed concept it is possible to realize metasurfaces which effectively manipulate arbitrary incident wave fronts (e.g., spherical). Here, we determine what are the physical requirements on the surface parameters which ensure the desired response and show how these requirements can be met utilizing thin uniaxial layers or arrays of small uniaxial particles.
