The possibilities of RDF/SRF utilization in Hungary

Nowadays it is a major challenge to satisfy the needs in the field of waste management and energy as well. The recovery of the generated waste's energy content can provide solutions for certain problems in both fields. In our research, we examine the opportunities of the utilization of the Hungarian secondary fuels from waste (RDF - refuse-derived fuell SRF - solid recovered fuel) to produce electrical and/or thermal energy for the Hungarian grid and district heating networks. During the investigation we examine the annual amount of generated solid waste, and it's temporal changes in Hungary, furthermore we will try to estimate it's primary energy content. In addition to the mixed solid waste I also investigate the Hungarian secondary fuel (RDF/SRF) producing capacities. After consideration of waste generation and processing capabilities, I examine and evaluate several potential Hungarian sites for RDF/SRF utilization. The evaluation aims to give a better picture of the economic sustainability of the Hungarian RDF/SRF utilization. The evaluation tries to rank the potential sites to give us an effective tool to find the most advantageous RDF/SRF utilization site from an economic point of view.
